Chocolates make the perfect gift, not just on Valentine's day, but any day of the year. For the best chocolates in Houston, head to Cacao & Cardamom located in the Centre of Post Oak on Westheimer. There you will find Annie Rupani, the guru of all things chocolate. Initially, Annie used dark chocolate as part of her weight loss regimen. However, that love of chocolate eventually developed into a flourishing career that has made her one of Houston's top Chocolatiers. Annie is able to harness the flavors and smells of her South Asian background in order to create delectable flavor combinations such as Guava Tamarind, Cardamom Rose, and 5 Spice Praline. Cardamom is used in Indian and Middle Eastern Cooking. It is a member of the ginger family and has aromatic herbal and citrus notes. In addition to unique flavors, Annie uses chocolate sourced from 20 different chocolate makers around the world including Venezuela, Bolivia, and Madagascar. In addition to bon bons and truffles, Cacao & Cardamom sells hot chocolate, coffee, tea, gelato, and gifts suitable for weddings or party favors. Annie also hosts events throughout the year that focus on chocolate education and pairings. I attended a chocolate and whiskey tasting and was very surprised at how well the two go together. Although, I love all the chocolates there, my favorite has to be the Cardamom truffle. The subtle spice paired with the richness of the chocolate is truly a winning combination. Cacao & Cardamom is definitely your one stop shop for all things chocolate. Cacao & Cardamom

After much anticipation, Craft Grill finally opens its doors today. Craft Grill is a full service restaurant and bar with southern charm and a Texas feel. Although it officially has a Tomball address, the restaurant will most likely attract patrons from Tomball, Spring, and The Woodlands. I was recently invited as a guest to sample their menu and cocktails at a training event. The restaurant itself is very tastefully decorated with a huge taproom, casual dining space, and a pet friendly patio. Craft Grill identifies itself as a gastropub with a menu that focuses on comfort food. There are over 30 craft beers on tap as well as wines and hand-crafted cocktails. Appetizers worth trying include the "Bama" Balls in a vodka sauce (creamy deep fried mac & cheese balls served with Tito's vodka cream sauce) and the jumbo lump Jeaux's Crab Cakes. For an entree, the North Carolina Glazed salmon is a delicious option and a great value at $16. Craft Grill will have Happy Hour everyday from 3-6 pm and a Reverse Happy Hour from 9 pm - until close. With hours that extend until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, Craft Grill will be a great spot for late night snacking, drinking, or just sharing a dessert after a movie. Craft Grill
